Get to Know Us - Laura Chamberlain

Here at i.d.e.a., we are not only proud of the innovative work we produce for our clients, but we also recognize that great work comes from even greater people. We wanted to introduce you to the leaders, thinkers and creators that invigorate our company and produce the work you see, hear and feel.

In today’s feature, you’ll meet our Senior Project Manager, Laura Chamberlain. Enjoy!

Q: As a project manager that serves as the connective tissue during projects, what is your mantra when it comes to being an effective manager? (a quote, song lyric, etc.)

A: "If plan A didn’t work out, the alphabet has 25 more letters. Stay cool.”

Q: What has been the most rewarding experience in your career thus far?

A: Being part of the team who launched a successful campaign that involved genetically testing influencers. There were more hurdles than any of us anticipated, but we succeeded and were all happy with the final outcome.

Q: Outside of your role at i.d.e.a., what do you like to do outside the office? Any interesting hobbies or talents?

A: Well, I did win the “I Love Craft Beer” award at the 2017 Christmas party so I do enjoy a good beer or two. I also enjoy hiking at Torrey Pines and spending time with friends, whether that be watching The Bachelor on Monday, shopping or eating/drinking.

Q: If you could impart some wisdom on young professionals looking to get into the industry, what would you tell them?

A: Do not be afraid to try something new. I transitioned from account management to project management at i.d.e.a., and while I was skeptical of the new role it turned out to be better for me in the long run, and I have only learned more about myself and gained new skills that will be beneficial for the future.

Q: Bonus question: So you’re in a room that’s on fire with Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, and Tom Hanks and can only save two. Who would be left in the dust?

A: Justin Bieber. I will admit I am a Taylor Swift fan and own most of her albums, and we just can’t let Tom Hanks go.
